Scope and boundaries

Identify one workflow, its users, approved information, and what remains outside the trial.

Capability

What do users and managers need to learn? Identify practice tasks, support, and feedback channels.

Authority

Record permitted AI actions, required human approval, escalation, and stop conditions.

Leadership

Name the sponsor, communication plan, and how staff can report concerns without penalty.

Evidence and review

Set the baseline, target, data source, and measurement owner. Record results before deciding the next step.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE

A manager’s
meeting recap.

Example only—not a completed client engagement or promised result.

One task, a bounded trial

Test whether an approved assistant can turn non-sensitive project notes into a useful draft recap for a small volunteer team. A manager reviews every draft before it is shared.

CAL in the pilot

Capability: practice checking facts and action owners. Authority: the assistant drafts; the manager approves. Leadership: invite reports of errors and extra work.

Evidence for the next decision

Compare preparation time, corrections, and actual use with a baseline. Agree thresholds before the trial. Continue only if the owner accepts the evidence and remaining risks; otherwise adjust the workflow or end the trial.

LET’S BUILD WHAT’S NEXT

Ready to scope a useful pilot?

Bring a workflow, a question, or an early idea. We’ll help define the next decision.

Eight weeks · decision in week nine
Users
One team of 8–10 people

Bounded scope

Draft summaries using approved, non-sensitive contract material. Exclude sensitive or controlled information, source selection, and award decisions.

Human review

A named reviewer checks each summary before use. Use approved tools and record errors for weekly review.

CAL conditions

Train staff to check outputs, name the accountable owner, and provide a safe channel for reporting problems.

At the review, expand only if agreed criteria and controls are met and a rollout owner is in place. Revise when a specific issue can be tested again; stop when value is absent or controls cannot be satisfied.
